THE INVESTOR CALL / THE PRODUCTIVITY EDITION / OCTOBER 7, 2026
|
THE PRODUCTIVITY EDITION Turn fear into | ![]() |
AI can make people - and entire companies - more effective.
Imagine a company with 10,000 employees. Instead of beginning with a plan to replace half of them, management asks a more useful question: what could all 10,000 accomplish with AI working beside them?
Engineers could spend more time solving problems. Salespeople could spend more time with customers. Finance teams could close the books faster. Service teams could resolve more cases. Experienced employees could share their knowledge across the business more easily.
The workforce remains the foundation. AI becomes an additional layer of capability: better information, faster preparation and less repetitive work. The aim is to turn saved time into better service, additional output and room to grow.
The next AI dollar may follow the companies that turn intelligence into useful work. |
For investors, that opens a much wider map. Software makes the technology usable. Implementation connects it to the business. Chips, cloud infrastructure and electricity keep it running. The opportunity extends across the whole system.
IN THIS EDITION / The economics · Implementation · The AI stack · The investment map
01 / THE ECONOMICS OF A STRONGER WORKFORCE Same people. | ![]() |
Productivity is output per unit of input. If employees complete more useful work in the same time, a company gains capacity. The important word is useful: a faster draft only creates value if its quality holds up and someone can use it.
THE 10,000-PERSON SCENARIO
Productivity gain | Workforce | Equivalent capacity |
|---|---|---|
Baseline | 10,000 | 10,000 |
+10% | 10,000 | 11,000 |
+20% | 10,000 | 12,000 |
+50% | 10,000 | 15,000 |
Illustration only. Assumes comparable work, unchanged hours and sustained gains across the workforce. These are capacity equivalents, not additional employees or revenue forecasts.

At an illustrative $150,000 of annual output per employee, baseline capacity is $1.5 billion. A 10% improvement adds $150 million of theoretical capacity. That is not automatically $150 million of sales or profit. Customer demand, production bottlenecks and implementation costs determine how much value reaches the accounts.
$1.5B ILLUSTRATIVE BASELINE CAPACITY | +$150M THEORETICAL CAPACITY AT +10% |
Growth can outpace hiring when the existing team can accomplish more. |
There is evidence for the mechanism. A study of 5,172 customer support agents found that AI assistance increased issues resolved per hour by 15% on average. Benefits varied substantially; less experienced workers gained more. This is evidence from a specific workplace, not a universal company-wide forecast. [1]

The investor test is whether recovered time becomes more orders fulfilled, shorter delivery cycles, better retention or additional capacity that customers actually pay for.
02 / FROM ACCESS TO IMPLEMENTATION Give people a system, | ![]() |
Buying an AI subscription is the beginning. The valuable work is connecting the technology to company knowledge, existing software and the decisions employees make every day.
01 Choose a measurable workflow Start with a repeatable task: preparing sales proposals, finding service answers or checking invoices. Record time per completed case, error rates and the cost of doing the work today. | 02 Connect the right information Give the tool access to approved documents and relevant customer or operational records. Keep information current and preserve the permissions that already apply to each employee. | |
03 Put AI inside the work Connect the assistant to the CRM, finance or service system. Use it to retrieve evidence, prepare drafts and suggest next actions. Keep accountable people in control of consequential decisions. | 04 Train, test and improve Teach employees how to use the tool and recognize its limits. Compare completed work with the baseline, including review time and rework. Expand after quality and net savings are demonstrated. | |
An agent can carry a workflow forward. People define its authority and verify the result. |
Consider overdue invoices. AI retrieves balances, checks correspondence and drafts reminders. A finance employee reviews exceptions and approves customer contact; permitted actions are recorded in the accounting system. The benefit is less chasing information and more attention on the accounts that need judgment.

03 / THE FULL AI INVESTMENT CIRCLE Software is the bridge. | ![]() |
A useful AI workflow depends on an entire stack. Spending can flow across several layers as businesses adopt the technology. The map below shows exposure, rather than a forecast that every participant will earn attractive returns.
PEOPLE & BUSINESS RESULTS Employees, customers and operating teams Useful output, quality and capacity |
APPLICATIONS & AGENTS Microsoft · ServiceNow · Palantir Tools that assist work and coordinate tasks [3-5] |
DATA, MODELS & CLOUD Company knowledge · AI models · Cloud capacity The information and computing services behind the tools |
COMPUTE & NETWORKING Nvidia · Broadcom Accelerated computing and connections between systems [6-7] |
DATA CENTERS & ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS Cooling · Power management · Backup systems Reliable operation, including technologies supplied by Eaton [8] |
ENERGY, GRID & MATERIALS Generation · Transmission · Copper The physical resources supporting digital capacity [2] |
The feedback loop: useful AI can improve business performance; successful businesses may invest more in software and computing. That can support additional infrastructure demand. Each link depends on adoption, economics and execution.
Across every layer: cybersecurity, integration, financing and employee training. Company roles overlap. |

05 / THE INVESTOR CALL VIEW Turn fear into sense. | ![]() |
Our thesis is simple: give people tools that help them accomplish more, then measure the result. A company with 10,000 employees does not need to begin its AI strategy with a smaller workforce. It can begin with stronger capabilities and a clearer plan for growth.
The physical buildout still matters. The IEA's 2025 base case projects global data-center electricity consumption rising from about 415 TWh in 2024 to roughly 945 TWh by 2030. This covers all data centers, not AI alone. It is a scenario, not a guaranteed outcome; hardware and software efficiency can change the path. [2]
![Useful AI still needs a physical foundation. Global data-center electricity consumption · TWh · IEA 2025 base case Source: supplied article, p. 6; research note [2]. Approximate 2024 consumption versus a 2030 base-case scenario. Covers all data centers, not AI alone. The outlined bar is a projection, not an achieved result or guaranteed outcome.](https://beehiiv-images-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/asset/file/63b89164-f661-4311-b823-ff325be896c9/chart_electricity.png?t=1791372090)
That connects yesterday's power story to today's productivity story. More efficient software can make each unit of computing more useful, while broader adoption may increase total demand. We need to examine both effects.
Follow the useful work. Then follow who captures the economic value. |
For The Investor Call Index and our broader research, the questions are concrete: is output improving, is quality holding up, are costs per completed task falling, and does the improvement survive the full cost of AI? Strong business performance and an attractive stock price are separate tests.
