THE AI MONEY TRAIL

THE AI BOOM
JUST GOT MORE
EXPENSIVE

Conceptual Investor Call illustration: THE AI BOOM JUST GOT MORE EXPENSIVE

Now we find out who can actually pay for it.

AI is not slowing down. But building it requires an extraordinary chain of capital: models need compute; compute needs networking; data centers need electricity and cooling; all of it needs financing.

That gives investors two questions, not one.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM?

AND WHERE DOES IT HAVE TO GO?

This edition follows both sides of the transaction. We start with an extraordinary historical example - Alphabet's early SpaceX investment - then move into today's AI capital loops and finally into the physical infrastructure receiving those billions.

The point is not to promise another 100x outcome. It is to understand how strategic capital moves before the final result becomes obvious.

AI ISN'T SLOWING DOWN.
THE PRICE OF BUILDING IT IS CHANGING.

01 / WHERE THE MONEY CAME FROM

A $900M BET
THAT BECAME A
$94B POSITION

Alphabet invested about $900 million in SpaceX in 2015. By the end of June 2026, Alphabet disclosed a SpaceX position worth about $94 billion. Reuters calculated that the early bet had multiplied more than 100-fold.

Why it matters

The lesson is not that every large technology investment becomes SpaceX. It is that strategic investors can place capital years before an infrastructure platform becomes obvious to the broader market. Alphabet's position also shows why looking only at today's earnings can miss where tomorrow's ecosystems are being built.

YESTERDAY'S RESULT IS EASY TO SEE TODAY.
THE HARD PART IS FOLLOWING CAPITAL BEFORE THE OUTCOME IS OBVIOUS.

02 / WHERE TODAY'S MONEY COMES FROM

THE NEW
STRATEGIC
CAPITAL LOOP

Conceptual Investor Call illustration: THE NEW STRATEGIC CAPITAL LOOP

Today's AI financing is increasingly intertwined with commercial relationships. Capital providers may also be cloud providers, chip suppliers, distribution partners or customers. That makes the flow more powerful - and more complex.

Meta

Amazon makes the loop unusually visible

Amazon announced a further $5 billion investment in Anthropic in 2026, after $8 billion previously invested, with up to another $20 billion tied to milestones. Anthropic simultaneously committed more than $100 billion over ten years to AWS technologies and secured up to 5 GW of capacity using Amazon's Trainium infrastructure.

SoftBank makes the scale visible

On October 1, SoftBank completed the final $10 billion tranche of its 2026 follow-on investment in OpenAI, bringing cumulative investment to $64.6 billion and ownership to approximately 13%. SoftBank said the tranche was funded with proceeds from foreign-currency senior notes.

THE FUNDING SOURCES

These structures show where the money comes from: corporate cash flows, debt markets, investment funds and strategic balance sheets - often tied directly to future infrastructure demand.

03 / WHERE THE MONEY HAS TO GO

AI DOES NOT LIVE
IN THE CLOUD.
IT LIVES IN PHYSICAL
INFRASTRUCTURE.

Conceptual Investor Call illustration: AI DOES NOT LIVE IN THE CLOUD. IT LIVES IN PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE.

Every frontier model eventually touches the physical world. Training and inference require silicon, high-speed interconnects, buildings, power conversion, cooling and electricity generation.

COMPUTE · NVDA

Accelerated computing

NETWORKING · AVGO

Connectivity + custom silicon

DATA CENTERS · APLD

Purpose-built AI/HPC capacity

COOLING + POWER · VRT

Thermal + electrical systems

ELECTRICAL · ETN

Distribution + power management

GRID + GENERATION · GEV

Power generation + grid

EVERY AI DOLLAR HAS TO TOUCH THE PHYSICAL WORLD SOMEWHERE.

These tickers are an infrastructure map, not a ranking or a promise of performance. The research question is which businesses convert unavoidable AI requirements into durable revenue and cash flow.

04 / THE CAPITAL FLYWHEEL

WHEN THE INVESTOR
CAN ALSO BECOME
THE SUPPLIER

Conceptual Investor Call illustration: WHEN THE INVESTOR CAN ALSO BECOME THE SUPPLIER

The modern AI transaction can run in a circle. A technology company invests in an AI developer; the developer uses the capital to buy compute; the compute runs in data centers; those data centers buy power, cooling and networking; the resulting AI services create revenue that can fund the next expansion.

The opportunity and the discipline

Circular relationships can accelerate deployment, but they can also make underlying demand harder to read. Investors should separate genuine end-customer adoption from financing-driven expansion and watch utilization, contract quality, margins and cash generation.

FOLLOW THE MONEY - BUT ALSO ASK WHETHER THE MONEY COMES BACK AS REAL CASH FLOW.

05 / THE NEXT CASE WE ARE WATCHING

SPECTRAL CAPITAL
FCCN

Conceptual Investor Call illustration: SPECTRAL CAPITAL FCCN

Could this be an early-stage AI + quantum infrastructure story?

OpenAI was not born as today's global AI platform. The defining investments came before the outcome was obvious. That is the lens through which The Investor Call is watching Spectral Capital: not because the result is guaranteed, but because FCCN is trying to assemble technology, intellectual property, operating revenue and public-market access before the next stage of commercialization.

THE INVESTOR CALL THESIS

What OpenAI represented years ago - an ambitious platform before mass adoption - is the kind of asymmetry we are looking for today. FCCN is one of the cases we believe deserves unusually close attention.

WHY FCCN IS DIFFERENT NOW

REAL OPERATIONS

Spectral reported $21.8 million of 2025 revenue after moving from a pre-revenue research model into operating telecommunications businesses.

DEEP-TECH IP

Its 2025 annual report describes more than 500 filed or prepared patentable innovations across AI, quantum computing and digital infrastructure, plus a further internal innovation pipeline.

PUBLIC-MARKET CATALYST

Spectral filed Amendment No. 4 to its Form S-1 on September 28, 2026 and has applied to list FCCN on the Nasdaq Capital Market. Approval is not assured.

AMBITIOUS 2026 TARGET

Management has reaffirmed approximately $450 million of 2026 revenue guidance and expects full-year profitability. These are company targets, not realized results.

READY FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER - NOT YET PROVEN.

This is where we push the case seriously. Spectral has moved beyond being only a concept: it has operating revenue, an expanding technology portfolio, an acquisition strategy and a live Nasdaq application. If management executes, FCCN could become a much larger story. But the comparison with OpenAI is a thesis about stage and potential - not a claim that the outcome will be the same. That distinction is exactly why we keep FCCN on the board and watch every filing, financing step and commercialization milestone.
